She Dies 86 Old.Actress. Director. Teacher. An actress of both the stage and screen in her homeland, and abroad. Four-time Tony Award winner for her roles in Tennessee Williams' Slapstick Tragedy (1966); The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1968); Medea (1982); and Master Class in 1996. She won the nominations each of the four times she was nominated. She was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (1970) for Services to the Theatre; John Gielgud Award (1998) Shakespeare Guild and the Folger Library; and the Linda Wilson Lifetime Achievement Award (1998) for Excellence in the Theatre. She received an honorary degree from Melbourne University. She also taught in many universities in the United States, including Florida State University where she held the Eminent Scholar Chair. She died from complications of Parkinson's disease.
