August Zade, formerly of Western, passed away Jan. 2, 1955, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Brunkow of Monroe, Wis., at the age of 85 years and 11 months.
August Zade was born in Pomerania, Germany, Febr. 2, 1869. He came to America when a young man and was married to Bertha Jones of Western Jan. 19, 1899. They lived on farms southwest of Western until he retired and moved to Western in Sept. 1927. Mrs. Zade passed away April, 1920, and a son Harry, died in August, 1922.
Mr. Zade's health started failing about a year ago and he spent several months with his daughter, Mrs. Warren Nickel of Shickley, and later went to Wisconsin to the home of Mrs. Brunkow.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin of Western, and Jesse of Hebron, the two daughters mentioned above; granddaughter, Katherine S. Zade, and one sister, Emma Krause in Germany.
Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at St. John's Ev. church in Western with Rev. Keiker in charge. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, east of Daykin.
