Frances was the daughter of John & Nancy (Gilbert) Mobley. Her father was born about 1792 in South Carolina and died about 1877 in Chambers Co AL. Her mother was born about 1801 in Halifax Co, NC and died between 1850 and 1856 in Henry Co, GA. Her father remarried to Martha, probably in AL.

The full siblings of Frances were Nancy E Mobley Burks, Elizabeth Mobley Adamson, Mary Mobley, William Gilbert Mobley, Susan Mobley, and Nancy Drucilla Mobley Mann. Her half-siblings were Sarah R Mobley Bishop, John J Mobley, and Susan Mobley Drake.

Nancy's grandparents were William B & Drucilla (Meador) Mobley and James & Elizabeth (Blanchett) Gilbert.

Frances married Samuel Mordis Adamson, son of William Coates & Nancy Elizabeth (Crawley) Adamson, on 27 Jan 1858. They were the parents of Bion Bunyan Adamson, Nancy Elizabeth Adamson, William Coates Adamson, John Quincy Adamson, Ann Wood Adamson McCarley, Mattie pearl Adamson, James Augustus Adamson, Zella Eudoxy Adamson, B E D Adamson, and Itura Cavella Adamson.
