Marla (Hale) Thompson

Marla Thompson (aka Marla Hale) passed away April 29, 2020. We are all in varying degrees of sadness and grief, shock and disbelief.
She was a wife to Wes Thompson, a sister to Malinda Grier and Marsha Hill (and I'm not sure it's possible for adult siblings to be closer than the three of them were), an aunt to Shay Hill-Shotton, Matt Sweeney, Wes Hill, and Heather Ogle (and a great-aunt to our respective children), and a friend to many, many people. She and Ken Hale weren't just cousins, they were classmates and lifelong friends.
She loved the Chiefs and Royals and Jayhawks basketball (is it possible to be a member of our family without loving these things?). She loved traveling and her many trips to Hawaii, San Diego (for Chiefs-Chargers games), Arizona to visit friends, and Tennessee to visit family are well documented with many filled photo albums. She loved going to concerts, hanging out at the pool in the summer, and the many dogs and cats she had over the years. Marla also made the best cheese balls for Christmas parties. She loved giving gifts to people, small mementos that carried a meaningful memory. I don't think any of us know how many commemorative issues of the Kansas City Star celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl victory that she bought and handed out and mailed to friends all over the country.
Heaven, as they say, gained an angel today.
Marla was preceded in death by her parents Fred & Ardella Hale.
