Timothy Francis Greene

Timothy Francis Greene, age 75, passed away on April 17, 2020 at his home in Centralia, Washington. He was born on February 13, 1945 to George and Frances (Atwood) Greene in Centralia, Washington. He grew up in the Fords Prairie area and attended Centralia schools then married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Rooney, on May 3rd, 1966. Tim and Pat were married for 37 years and raised four children…it was one hell of a ride. On November 10, 2003, Tim married Mary Ellen (Keith) Lyons and together they raised one son…a little smoother ride.
Tim was well known within the Lewis and South Thurston county areas as an entrepreneur…a “Jack of all trades” so to speak. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. After 2 years of service and an honorable discharge, the real adventures began… He was everything; a service station attendant in Packwood, a police officer in Montesano, a diesel mechanic and truck driver for Tri State Enterprises, heavy equipment mechanic for both Fred Moe Logging and McPaul Machine, an equipment superintendent at the Satsop power plant, a licensed private investigator, a process server and a pawn broker at Star Exchange. He was a shrewd used car salesman and the proud owner of McTimmy’s Garage and North Tower Pawn and Trading Co.
Tim knew everything there was to know about guns, ammo, cars, trucks, hot rods, and Harleys and owned at least one of everything, at one time or another. He was a horse trader, a race car driver, a firearms dealer, a straight shooter, and a pillar of knowledge and never backed down from a good old-fashioned debate, especially over politics and gun rights. He could sell ANYTHING, and he loved the hustle of a good deal! He was a vagabond and could easily pack up shop, travel to parts unknown and set up for the next big adventure, family in tow.....again and again. He loved the dessert sun in Arivaca, Arizona, the mountain air of Packwood, Wa., and the serenity of McCloud Ca. but he always came home to Centralia. In these last few years of his life, he mellowed a bit and looked forward to simpler things, like BS’ing over coffee with his dear friend Bill Paulsen but still, he never stopped wheeling and dealing, not even in the end. He was the proud son of a Spooner, a mama’s boy, the big middle brother, a twice beloved husband, Big Tim, Dad, Pops and “Grumpa”. There is so much more to his legacy, a single page is nowhere near enough……He was known to proclaim; “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for I am… the meanest son of a S.O.B. in the valley.”
He is so loved. We will dearly miss our Dad….The Man, The Myth, The Legend…Tim Greene.
Tim is survived by his wife of 17 years; Mary Ellen Greene, daughter; Kristin (Ken) Butterworth, four sons; Tim K. (Elizabeth) Greene, Zachary Keith Greene, Joshua Kyle Greene, and Dustin James Greene, step children; Christopher Doki and Kelly Lyons, eight grandchildren; Samantha Greene, Tim L.(Crystal) Greene, Dugan E. Greene, Tiffany Greene, Miranda Greene, Tiana (Jeff) Carlisle, Morgan Greene and Wyatt Greene, five great grandchildren; Talon, Triston, Trey, Conner and Everleigh, brothers; Johnny Greene of Arivaca, Arizona and Dugan (Nancy) Greene of McCloud Ca. a special niece; Robin Greene of Rochester, Wa. and many more nieces, nephews, and a ton of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia Ann Greene.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary. Amidst this global pandemic, a graveside service at Grand Mound Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
