Phillip Durrett was a black man who served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a Pvt. in Co. D., 108th Colored Infantry.

The 108th Colored Infantry was organized in Louisville, Kentucky on June 20th, 1864.
The unit was attached to the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, District of Kentucky, 5th Division, 23rd Corps, Dept. of the Ohio, to January, 1865. Military District of Kentucky to May, 1865. Dept. of Mississippi and the Gulf to March, 1866.

The type of service he would have been allowed to so was garrison and guard duty at various points in Kentucky until January, 1865. He may have seen action at Owensboro, Kentucky on October 22nd, 1864 or served guard duty at Rock Island, Illinois from January to May, 1865 or served duty in the Dept. of Mississippi until March, 1866.
Co. D., 108th Colored Infantry was mustered out on March 21st, 1866.

Phillip Durrett was 41 yrs. of age, a black man with a personal estate of $150. Living with him are:
Wife: Martha, age 39, Mulatto
female, Maglin, age 18
female, Sarah, age 15
female, Louisy, age 13
female, Emilia, age 12
male, Manuel, age 9
female, Anna, age 8
male, Robert, age 5
female, Bettie, age 3
female, Malvina, age 2/12 born in May
All children were listed as being Mulatto.
