Mrs. Lillian S. Tietjen, 64. of Walton, sister of William Smith of East Front Street, Hancock, died
Tuesday, February 15, 1972, in the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had worked at Both Delaware Valley and the Smith Hospital in Walton. More recently she had been employed as an aide in the Walton Central School. A lifetime resident of the Walton area, Mrs. Tietjen was a member of Christ Church Episcopal, the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, 40&8 Club of the American Legion, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ladies Guild of the church and for the past 25 years had been active in Girl Scouts. She was born at Horton. Town of Colchester, on April 16, 1907 a daughter of William and Myra Meagley Smith and was married on July 26, 1942 to Russell Tietjen at Walton who survives. Besides her husband and brother she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Fred Kloosterman of Rochester, and a sister, Mrs. Philip Hood of Deposit. Her body reposed at the Clark and Knorr Funeral Home in Walton until Friday when services were held at 10:00 a.m., from Christ Church Episcopal, Walton, with the Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie officiating. Burial was in the Walton Cemetery.
