Earle served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot on B-17G #44-6328, 345th Bomber Squadron, 97th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Plymouth County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 20, 1941, prior to the war, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of boots and shoes and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17G #44-6328 took off, with a crew of 11, from Amendola Field, Italy on a bombing mission over Fortezza Yards, Italy. On the first bombing run over the target B-17G #44-6328 was hit in the cockpit by ground anti-aircraft causing the B-17 to crash near Fortezza. The entire crew perished.

Earle was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
