Mrs. Easterling was born in Claiborne County near Hermanville. She was daughter of the late Dr. Edward Brent Chapman and Irene Hurlbert Chapman.
She attended Meridian public schools, Woman's College and Cumberland University. She was admitted to the Mississippi State Bar on May 24, 1915, and was later admitted for practice before the Mississippi Supreme Court. Her husband, Wyatt Easterling, senior partner in the law firm of Easterling, Bailey & Easterling in Meridian, died June 30, 1928. Several years later, she moved to Jackson. Mrs. Easterling was a civilian member of the Judge Advocate's Office of the U.S. Army. She also served for four years as an adjudicator with the Veterans Administration before returning to the Judge Advocate's Office in 1949 where she served as attorney-adviser until her retirement. She was a former member of the American Bar Association, the Hinds County Bar Association, the International Association of Women Lawyers and served as an advisory member to the Japan Women's Bar Association. Mrs. Easterling was a member of the Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church, the Fortnightly Club, the Mississippi Genealogical Society and the Phi Delta Delta legal fraternity.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Thomas H. Rousseau of Jackson; and two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
