NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Verna S. Byrd, 95, Edward Street, a resident since 1960, died Friday at a local care facility.
Mrs. Byrd, a homemaker, was born in Wilkes County, N.C., and moved to this area from Detroit.
She was a member of Servants Quarters Fellowship. An avid gardener, who raised and canned her own vegetables, she also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Charles, New Smyrna Beach; two daughters, Frances Ford, New Smyrna Beach, and Betty Boehmer, New Mexico; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Servants Quarters Fellowship, 1429 Sabal Palm Drive., Edgewater, FL 32132. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
