Sister Ada Veola Watson-Miller was born to the late Josephine Croom and Richard Watson on July 18, 1924 in Yorktown (Lincoln County), Arkansas. She received her education at Yorktown School District in Lincoln County, Arkansas. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family and love ones.
Ada accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Nebo Church in Yorktown, Arkansas. After moving to Pine Bluff in 1958 she later joined and became a faithful member of Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church until she departed this life. She was an active member of the Stewardess Board until her health started failing.
Sister Ada had a passion for serving. She was a Mid-Wife, a nurse at Loma Linda Nursing Home, Davis Hospital and Jefferson Hospital for over forty years until she retired to take care of her mother. She was an active member of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter #5 until her health started to decline. She never met a stranger and lifted any spirit she came in contact with. She truly let God’s light shine in her. She was a testimony of what a virtuous woman is suppose to be. She laughed, lived, and loved as a true child of God. She was a good and faithful servant.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Barbara Pennington (Eddie), Doris Trotter, Shirley Barnes (John), Special daughter Debbie Simmons all of Pine Bluff; ten grandchildren, Bennie Hodges III of Tucson Arizona, Matthew Shavers (Erica) Fountain, Colorado, Jeanetta Barnes-Terrell (Chad) of Pine Bluff, AR, John Barnes of Portland, Oregon, Tequila Barnes of Pine Bluff, AR, Marquise Barnes (DeAndra) of Desoto, Texas, Terrence Barnes (Krystal) of Bryant, AR, Calvin Barnes (Joycelyn) of Cedar Hill, Texas, Ada Trotter, Shaquana Alford both of Pine Bluff, AR and a Special grandson William “Parlea” Boyd of Pine Bluff, AR,; two sister’s Dorothy Watson of California, Twonda Watson of Pine Bluff, two brother’s Ray Watson of Pine Bluff, Richard Lyn Watson Jr. of St. Charles, Missouri.
