Note: The obituary in the Florence Morning News, dated Wednesday 17 March 1937, states, "...who died Monday in Columbia...", which would be the 15th of March; therefore this statement is in error. The official death certificate shows 1:30pm 14 April 1937, which was a Sunday, not Monday. HCC 14 June 2017

The following bio on my maternal grandfather, James Edwards Myers, is based on my research and contains my opinions; however I feel that this bio may explain some of the differences in his family's past that others may have.

James Edward Myers was born Thursday 29 March 1860 to William Armstrong Myers and Mary Ann Coward in the Lee Township of Williamsburg District of South Carolina (district, not county, were used from 1800 to 1866 in South Carolina). At this time, three of his four grandparents (paternal: Samuel James Myers and Mary Avant; maternal: Rix Arich Coward) were alive and nearby in South Carolina. Jim was the third son and seventh child, with his oldest sister Mary being 10 1/2 years older; however he and his family are going to experience many upheavals over his lifetime.
