He was a World WarII U.S. Navy Veteran. He was aboard the battleship U.S.S. West Virginia at Pearl Harbor when it was sunk during the Japanese attack December 7, 1941. He was involved in other action for the duration of the war. He was a lifetime member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
He married Madge Sirmon on Feb.5, 1946 in Abbeville, La. who preceded him in death.
At time of death he was survived by his daughter Elizabeth Egginton and husband Michael of Lafayette La., three brothers, Gordon Brown and wife Ona Faye, Dalton Brown and wife Faye and Kenneth Brown all of Graham, Texas; two sisters, Betty Warren and Ina Dell Burkett both of Graham; two grandchildren, Angela Dejean and Brooks Reece; and one great-grandchild, Tirney Dejean.
