Mary Laverne DeLay, 76, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on April 14, 2020. She was born on December 1, 1943 in Hoyt, Oklahoma to Thomas Elmer Wren and Ethel Lee (Peters) Wren. She graduated from Stigler High School in 1961. On January 21, 1962 she married Kenneth Gene DeLay in Hoyt, Oklahoma. The spent over 58 memorable years together.
Mary worked as a seamstress at Royal Casket for many years before retiring in 2008. She had many hobbies that consisted of crocheting, embroidery, crafting, and quilting. She also loved to collect angels and mini hurricane lamps. She also loved her irises in her garden, as well as cooking and baking. Most of all she loved her family and caring for all her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She always held a strong faith.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ethel Wren; son, Ricky DeLay; brothers, Lloyd Wren and Eugene "Bud" Wren; sisters, Gladys Stephens, Freeda Morris, Nona Osborn, Jeanne Bender, Leola Reeder, and infant Sarah Wren; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doyle and Juanita DeLay.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth DeLay of the home; daughters, Tammie Farquhar and Rich of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Shelly Rich and spouse John of Grove, Oklahoma, and Carrie DeLay of Muskogee; son, Billy DeLay and Chris of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sister, Shirley Denney of Quinton, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Sherry Porterfield of Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amanda Gray of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Ashley Wood of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Tiffany Sanders of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Alex Gant of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brayden DeLay of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Aaron Federico of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Madilyn Gray, Alexis DeLay, Dylan and Emmary Wood, Christian Sanders, and Hollis Federico; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family will celebrate Mary's life with a private family service.
