Mrs. Seward, nee Anna M. Wharton of Albany, NY, was the widow of Frederic W. Seward, who served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State during the Lincoln, Johnson, and Hayes Administrations, and the daughter-in-law of celebrated American statesman William H. Seward, Sr. She was 83 years old at the time of her death. Predeceased by her husband, also buried here, in 1915, the couple had resided in Montrose, Westchester County, NY. Survivors included their daughter, Anna, and her brother-in-law, General William H. Seward, Jr.
