Mr. Dillard attended South Iredell High School and later worked for ABJ Construction Company as a carpenter for nearly twenty years until he was forced to retire due to ill health.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Vicki Smith Dillard, he is survived by seven brothers and their respective wives, Billy Ray Dillard (Gwynn), Carl Eugene Dillard (Susie), Larry Von Dillard (Lynne), Dwight David Dillard (Robin), Tommie Lynn Dillard (Anita), Ronald Dale Dillard, and Michael Freeman Dillard (Mary). He is also survived by a sister, Judith Dillard Whittington and husband, Steve. Mr. Dillard leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory; Melody Dillard Vinson, Kristen Dillard Weavil, Teresa Estes Wike, Tina Estes Bright, James Eugene Dillard, Adam Lindsay Dillard, Richard Von Dillard, Jason York, Angela York Nichols, Trisha Dillard Carmona, Ryan David Dillard, Christie Dillard, Carla Dillard Norris, Jesse Dillard, Chastity Dillard, Tabitha Dillard, Tommie James Dillard and their spouses and children.
There are also nieces and nephews by marriage who will sorely miss him; Angella Harding Patterson, James Harding, Bradley Harding, Daniel Webster Myers, Michael William Harkey, Kelly Smith Bradford, Jared Clay Overcash, Billy Ray Smith and Cari Ellen Smith. Last, but not least, there are grandchildren of his heart; Kimberly Leigh Mangrum, Seth Edward Patterson, Alexander Keegan Patterson, and Sydney Ellen Patterson.
The celebration of life services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday at Calvary Community Church with Reverend Anthony Wike and Pastor John Whalen officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Harmony, NC. At the long-standing request of Mr. Dillard, his brothers will be serving as the designated pallbearers, and all of his nephews will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Mark Allen Dillard, 27, of 608-C-1 Foxcroft Terrace died Saturday morning at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on September 17, 1977, he was a son of the late Richard Allen Dillard and Cathy Stamey Dillard who survives and with whom he made his home. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Trisha Carrie Carmona and her husband, Marc-Anthony and a nephew, Bryce Anthony Carmona all also of the home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 Monday (today) at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Conley Matlock officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the funeral hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times they will be assembled at the residence of his uncle, John Laney at 1598 Eufola Rd. Statesville.
