Mosa, or better known as Mosie, was the loving daughter born to Moses McSpadden Buckner of Tennessee and Emeline Jane Risinger of Alabama.

Moses married Emeline Jane Risinger at the home of his future-in-laws in Rusk County, Texas, on December 2, 1852. They were blessed with several children: Nancy Catherine, Franklin Bowden, Mary Ann "Molly" (Scogin), Sarah Theodosia "Theo" (Power), Robert Garrett, and Mosa Mariah "Mosie" (Scogin).

Tragically, on March 12, 1863 during the Civil War, Mosie's father died as a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, Springfield, Illinois.

Two of the Buckner daughters, Molly and Mosie, married Scogin brothers, William Reddick and John Albert. They were the sons of John W. and Laura Reddick (Eure) Scogin.

Nine of their children lived to maturity and to see their parents celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were lovingly married for fifty-five years.
