Staeheli, Erma Jean Alexander, age 91, entered into rest November 27, 1992 at St. Lukes Extended Care Center in Spokane.

The daughter of early Spokane pioneers, she was a lifetime resident.

She is survived by one son, Glenn A. Staeheli, and his wife, Alice; one daughter, Pauline Staeheli Hagan, and her husband, Donald Hagan, all of Spokane; five grandchildren and their spouses: Dr. Bruce W. Staeheli, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Lois Ann and Jim Munson, Junction City, OR, Paul Chandler and Theresa Staeheli, Spokane, David and Gretchen Staeheli, Anchorage AK, and Dr. Lynn A. Staehili, Boulder CO; six great grandchildren; sister, Muriel Alexander Swann, Spokane; sisters-in-law, Irene Alexander, Spokane, Verna Staeheli, Coeur d'Alene, ID, and Lola Staly, Arlington, WA, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in 1966 by her husband Paul M. Staeheli, whom she had married in 1920.

She graduated from West Valley High School in 1919 and then taught one year in Horse Haven Hills near Prosser, WA. She was a 66-year member of the Magnolia Chapter of the OES in Millwood, a 58-year member and past president of the Spokane Floral Association, and a member of the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers. A member of the Millwood Presbyterian Church, she had also attended Trinity Baptist Church. In recent years, she was an Honorary Director of the Spokane Lilac Festival and a member of the Dishman Hills Association. In 1986 she was named Garden Club Woman of the Year by the Associated Garden Clubs, and in 1982 she was nominated for Kaiser Aluminum's "One Person Can Make a Difference" Award for the thousands of floral bouquets she took to a local nursing home over an 18 year period.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 1992 at 1:30 P.M. at the Millwood Presbyterian Church, E. 8902 Dalton, Spokane, with Rev. Ray Blackstone officiating. Cremation preceded. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be given to the Morning Star Boys Rance or the Hospice of Spokane or the Millwood Presbyterian Church.
