Mrs. Elizira Bertie Alexander, 76, Parkwater, who as a girl of 13 came to Spokane with her family in 1883 by riding a construction train from Sprague before the completion of the N.P. railroad, died in a local hospital Thursday.
She was a member of the Elderbloom club, Pioneers club, Junior Pioneers and of the Baptist church at Orchard Avenue.
Besides a son, Robert, of Parkwater, and four daughters, Mrs. Erma Staeheli, Mrs. Blanche Ludwig, Mrs. Inez Buckminster, and Mrs. Vesta Hansen, all of Spokane, she is survived by 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Wood of Roseburg, Ore.
Mrs. Alexander's childhood home here was on a homestead on what is now part of Felts field.

Bertie's father was Thomas Hall Lewis (1826-1888). His place of burial is unknown. Bertie's mother was Emeline Esther Lewis.
