Sue was born in La Habra, CA, and spent most of her childhood in Marsing, Idaho, on a farm with her sister and brother. The children all have very vivid memories of that childhood; learning to swim in the Snake River; picking your Christmas presents out of the Sears catalog; riding the horse, Danny, who, if you fell off, would patiently stop and wait for you to climb back on again; seeing who got up first to get to ride the only bike two miles to school, the two-story schoolhouse with the outhouses, no running water; Mother sewing dresses for the two girls out of flour sack material (very pretty, with little flowers on it); windy, autumn days and nights; cold, snowy days of winter; playing hide & seek and playing "red rover" outside at night in the summers; of the dog, Ruby, hiding her new puppies under the house, and in the wide branches of trees, so Daddy couldn't find them and put them in a gunny sack and throw them in the Snake River. Of the cougar cub Daddy brought home from a hunting trip whose mother had been killed. Of the wounded bird found on the pond, and fixing it's leg and caring for it until it was able to walk.. What a wonderful, carefree childhood..

Sue's family moved to La Habra again when she was eight. She skipped 3rd grade (and consequently never learned her multiplication tables) and was put into 4th grade upon moving to California. She attended Washington grade school, and walked to school every day with her best friend, her cousin, Diane Choate. They would occasionally detour to their grandmother Lane's house, where they would ditch school, make cookies with their grandma, and play all day. It was astonishing that their grandmother let them stay there (helped them, actually), and never turned them in to their parents.

Sue attended La Habra High school and her first job was at a burger stand when she was 15, where she made enough money to buy her first car. She graduated High School at age 16 and in July, 1960, got a job with Pacific Telephone as a Long Distance operator, a job she loved, but the working weekends and late nights was very difficult.

She met Jack in October of 1960 at a Halloween party, and they were married in 1962. She quit the telephone company when she was pregnant with their first child, Kelly, and worked for J. C. Penney Company for two years, and then worked occasionally for a temporary agency. Her second child, Jerry, was born in 1964. She and Jack had always wanted a third child, and adopted her mother's sister's child, Kimberly Kay in 1970.

While working for a temporary agency she was brought to Xerox Corporation as a temporary Receptionist. She worked as a receptionist, sales secretary, billing administration, equipment order entry, dispatcher for almost a year before accepting a permanent position as a dispatcher. In 1980 she was promoted to Manager and in 1984 took a position as an analyst, becoming an expert in the telephone computer field. She wrote an interactive training video for the telephone computer switch, spending almost two years traveling to Leesburgh, Virginia, to do so.

She became a grandmother in 1989 when her granddaughter Stephanie was born, and again in 1991 when Steven was born. Her oldest daughter gave her another grandson, Mitchell Flynn Rael, in 1994. Her grandchildren were the most important thing in her life next to her husband, Jack.

She became the information specialist for the Los Angeles Center in 1988, and in 1992 became the National Telecommunications specialist for the Rochester office, having responsibility for the ACDs for all sites in the United States. She started traveling quite a lot more that year and spent a lot of time at the following places:
New York City, NY. Rochester, NY. Pittsburgh, PA. Washington, D. C. Boston, MA. Seattle, WA. Phoenix, AZ. Monterey, CA. San Jose, CA. San Francisco, CA. Woodland Hills, CA. Atlanta, GA. Tampa, FL. Chicago, IL. Dallas, TX. Denver, CO.

In 1994, her job was moved to Dallas, and she commuted to Dallas each Monday, returning home on Thursdays or Fridays for that entire year, helping with the transition. Subsequently her job stayed with her, and she was able to work at home (telecommuting) during next few years. On March 12, 1998, she celebrated her 25th year with Xerox. Retired from Xerox December 7, 1999.

Sue took up sewing in 1997, making Christmas presents. The three grandchildren spend each weekend with Jack and Sue, from Friday night to Sunday night. They are very family oriented and enjoy the grandchildren very much. Sue takes them to the movies, and Jack takes them to the park. One of Sue's greatest pleasures is taking her granddaughter, Sessie, shopping and to lunch. This is a great pleasure for both of them.
