A native of Guelph, Canada, Mr. Allen came to Ontario 43 years ago. In 1903 he erected the first brick business building to stand on the west side of Euclid Avenue, north of B Street, where he conducted a shoe store for a number of years. Later, he was affiliated for a number of years with the staff of the Armstrong nurseries. he was a member of the First Methodist church and of the Ontario Odd Fellows lodge, having been affiliated with the latter organization for 33 years. Surviving Mr. Allen ar his widow, Gertrude Hansler Allen, a daughter Mrs. John Baxter, Upland; two sons, Fred R Allen Sarasota, Fla., and Frank May, Los Angeles; and a brother Robert Allen, Walnut.
