Benjamin Franklin, Sr., 89, of the Herndon Community, passed from this life surrounded by his family on April 3, 2020 in Bokoshe, OK. Benjamin was born March 6, 1931 in Glover to Pearlie Mae (Franklin) Louis.

Benjamin was a member of the Shady Point First Assembly of God Church and had lived in McCurtain County most of his life. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. Benjamin loved riding in vehicles with others and going to the casino. He also enjoyed coaching softball games. Benjamin loved his family time and having meals with them. He loved listening to Choctaw Hymns.

He married the love of his life Virginia Williston in 1956 in Idabel.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his mom, Pearlie Mae Lewis; three brothers, B.C. Lewis, Nelson Lewis, and Jessie Lewis; sister, Marie Davis; two daughters, Connie Franklin and Nawatha Baker; granddaughter, Rendi Franklin; grandson, Kevin Raymond; and a nephew, Jeremy Louis.

Benjamin is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, of Battiest; sons, Ben Franklin, Jr, of Sulphur, Brian Franklin, of Broken Bow, and Edmond Brent Franklin, of Oklahoma City; daughters, Marietha Bond, and Larry, of Bethel, Valeria Franklin, of Battiest, Thelma Kaniatobe, and Rick, of Glover, Wahneeta Ferguson, and Richard, of Bokoshe, Tracie Willis, and Elesten Jr, of Bethel, Inese Mitchell, and Shawn, of Garvin, Neomi Franklin, of Battiest, and Rowena Gayle Franklin, of Bethel; son-in-law, Billy Baker, of Broken Bow; brothers, Horton Ray Louis, of Durant, and William Louis, and Abby, of Duncan; sisters, Lillian Louis, of Mequite, and Dorothy Beller, of Broken Bow; thirty grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Chuck Ishcomer, of Arizona; along with a host of other relatives and other friends.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 2:00, at the Nanih Chito Cemetery, in Wright City, with Richard Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers will include Lonnie Bond, Colby Mitchell, Evan Jessie, Jeremiah Colbert, Thomas Jefferson, and Mark Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Jessie, Cody Franklin, Johnny Raymond, and Payton Young.
