Melvin R. Fulkerson, 84, Stark City, died at 2:15 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, following an illness.

Mr. Fulkerson was born April 26, 1923, in McDonald County, the son of George A. Fulkerson and Lottie E. (Russell) Fulkerson. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, serving from March 2, 1943 to Oct. 18, 1945. He was a lifelong area resident and worked at MFA Farmer's Exchange until his retirement in 1983 and was a farmer.

Melvin and Ina May (Ely) were married on Oct. 12, 1943, and she survives. Additional survivors include two children, Carolyn Myers, Stark City, and Melvin R. Fulkerson, Jr., Deary, Idaho; one sister, Elizabeth Francis, Neosho; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, with burial at the Macedonia Cemetery, Stella.

Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby.

Contributions in memory of Melvin may be made to the Alzheimers Association, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 26, Granby.
