Michael Lynn Morphew, 50, of Madrid, Iowa died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Boone County Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Evangelical Free Church in Madrid. Michael was born December 13, 1952 in Fort Dodge and had lived in Madrid for 25 years. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School, where he was a state wrestling champion. Michael attended Iowa State University on a football scholarship, graduating with a degree in art. On October 15, 1978, he married his wife, Chris. He was a member of NRA, Whitetails Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Michael built custom furniture and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid conservationist.

He is survived by his wife, Chris of Madrid, a son, Joseph Morphew of Madrid two daughters, Anna Morphew of Madrid and Heather Morphew of Ames his mother, Mary Morphew of Clarion a sister, Jane Wright of Goldfield and a brother, Tony Morphew of Ames. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, a brother, James and a sister, Barbara. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 20 at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leopold Center at Iowa State University.
