Loretta K. (Gordon) Adams, 90, beloved mom, grandma and great grandma passed away

peacefully on Friday, March 27 in Salisbury. She was born September 23, 1929 to Philip L. and

Adeline (Zapf) Speichinger of the Indian Grove/Mendon area.

On March 17, 1950, she married Loren Gordon and to this union 7 children were born.

November 19, 1980, she married Bill Adams of Salisbury. Loretta & Bill enjoyed trips to Kansas

City to the City Market, selling fruit, vegetables, and watermelon and cleaning up the salvage

yard. She was always busy. Loretta loved to be outside in her garden, working with her flowers,

and decorating for Christmas, Easter and other holidays. Her favorite was Halloween as she

always had a scary figurine waiting and loved seeing the grand and great grand kids in their

costumes. She had a quick wit with tons of energy and loved everybody she met. She is

famous for her funny drawings with their hilarious captions. Loretta loved having her family

visit and would always have a bowl of popcorn and Pepsi for anyone who dropped in. She was

a gracious and giving lady, cooking for many; working for her church and making delicious food to take to her siblings "up home". She was the "fun" sister, they say… always brought a smile

and a fun time wherever she went.

Loretta is survived by her 4 sons: James Warner (Denise) Gordon; Monty (Judy) Gordon; Mark

(Jeanette) Gordon; and Charles (Stephanie) Gordon, all of Salisbury; 2 daughters, Lora Lee

Reifsteck of Moberly; Vi (Robert) Akins of Columbia; 14 grandchildren: Jeremiah (Jenny) of

Cameron; Miriah Gordon, Josiah Gordon, Adam (Erin) Friesz of Columbia; Jennifer (Kirk) Lavelle

of Kearney; Jacob (Audrey) Gordon of Salisbury; Adam (Naketa) Gordon, Glasgow; Devin

Gordon, Kansas City; Joshua (Erika) Gordon; Rachel (Jon) Knight; Alexa Gordon, Salisbury;

Robin (Aaron) Gray of Columbia; Amanda (Jeremy) Haase of Rocheport; Ashley (Shane) Burr,

Rocheport; Clinton (Jennifer) Hammons, Salisbury; Brian (Alison) Hammons, Kansas City; 26

great grandchildren; a brother, James Speichinger, and sister, Margie Speichinger of Indian

Grove; several cousins, nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Loren Gordon; husband, Bill Adams;

brothers, Vincent Speichinger, Robert Speichinger, Msgr. Lawrence Speichinger, Eugene

Speichinger; sisters, Sr. Raphael Speichinger, Anna Rose Speichinger and Gertrude Leonard, and

a daughter, Nellie Eling.

Loretta was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Salisbury until her health made

it too difficult to attend services. In years past, she was an avid worker for the church, spending

many hours cleaning the church's brass candlesticks in preparation for special services, working

the picnics, and cooking many meals.

Arrangements for a private ceremony with burial at St. Raphael's in Indian Grove are pending.

A celebratory mass and memorial will be held at a later date.
