[PG 162}...Sterns, She survived Mr. Black for nearly forty years. In 1834 he died, and was buried in Halifax. One of his daughters married J A Barry of Liverpool

Over his grave is this epitaph:

Sacred to the Memory of
THE REVEREND WILLIAM BLACK

Whose labours in the Gospel Ministry
for half a century, have been acknowledged
with distinguished approbation
by the Great Head of the Church
For many years
he was the General Superintendent of the
Wesleyan Missions,
in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick,
where he is justly deemed the Father of
Methodism.
To his labours, prudence, and paternal
care is the Church in this place
much indebted for its rise, increase
and prosperity:
With its history will his name be
associated, and his memory revered
during its continuance.
He entered into rest VIII Sept.
MDCCCXXXIV [1776]
aged LXXIV years. [74]
The remains of William Black (Jr.) and his wife Mary rest in the old graveyard at Grafton Street Methodist Church, Halifax and near the vestry door are their tombstones and those of their childrenas per the book "William Black, by John MacLean, printed 1907, the Methodist Book Room, pg 61.
Son of William (Sr.) and ________, William (Jr.) marr Mary Gay in 1784 in Cumberland Nova scotia. They had 5 children the eldest being Celia, Martin Gay, William Anderson, Samuel & Mary.
Rev. Black Jr's. Father William lived in Dorchester, New Brunswick, Canada.
