Former San Francisco resident Anthony Alianiello, "Tony," age 47 years, passed away on August 15, in the Hospice at Desert Hospital, Palm Springs, Calif.

A resident of Palm Springs or many years, Alianiello worked for Sun Aire Lines, which
later became Sky West, until an HIV-related stroke forced his early retirement in 1987. Prior to his employment with the airlines Alianello was the security guard, then manager of Dave's Villa Caprice Resort in Cathedral City.

A native of Lawrence, Mass., Alianiello left his home town and moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for Piedmont Airlines at National Airport. He lived there for several years, twice meeting then President Lyndon B. Johnson. Alianiello was amazed at Johnson for remembering his name upon their second meeting!

From Washington, D.C, Alianiello moved to san Francisco where he worked for the tederal government as a collection agent for delinquent student loans. He made many lifelong friends while living in San Francisco during the incredible 1970s. Even so, after several years in the city, Alianiello became tired of government work and craved change o scenery with warmer weather. He moved to Palm Springs in 1978. Following Alianiello's lead,
several San Francisco triends moved to Palm Springs shortly thereafter.

Alianiello traveled extensively. He once spent six weeks in Europe visiting nine countries. He made other trips to surope and iust about anvwhere vou could imagine in worn America. de had a knack for meeting celebrities and would amuse his rends with anecdotes of chance encounters that most of them could only imagine! Alianiello love life, adventure, travel, music, scary books and movies, and especially, big roller coasters!

He is survived by his father, Andrew; brother, Michael; and sister Kathleen; all of Massachusetts; also, his good friends, John Hufnagle of Palm Springs and Gary Tillinghast of San Diego. His father, sister and John were at his bedside when he made his transition.

Private services were held in Palm Springs the day following his death. Later, a larger memorial service was held in Massachusetts for the family. A beautiful quilt panel has been lovingly hand-sewn by his cousin.

His ashes were scattered by his friends in the desert, in San Francisco and from the back of the Colossus Roller Coaster at Magic Mountain.
