My grandmother, Lessie, the first of nine children, was born to John Thomas & Anna Catherine (McAdams) Hawkins, in Lewisburg, Marshall Co, TN.

Around 1885/1886 John & Annie & their five children moved to the little settlement of Wilson in I.T.

On June 11, 1900,
Lessie N., age 14, were renting a home in Township 5, Township 5, Chickasaw Nation, I.T., with her parents, John T. & Annie C. Hawkins. They had been married 6 years; Annie had given birth to 7 children, all of whom were living. Her father farmed to support the family. Her siblings were John C., age 11; Sam C., 8; Clara J., 7; James S., 5; Bessie P., 4; & Dudd (male), age 3 months. All of the family were born in TN except for the last two children, who were born near Wilson, I.T.

Lessie married Samuel William Love in February 1903. News about their marriage was published in the Ardmore Daily Ardmoreite, on Sunday, February 22, 1903.
"Miss Lessie Hawkins and Mr. Sam Love, both of Wilson, were married last week at the home of the bride's parents at Wilson. Rev. Hopkins of Hoxbar officiated."

This would have been Mary, born on June 26, 1904. She died on October 27, 1908, & was buried in McMillan Cemetery.

A daughter, whom they named Mamie "China," was born on Mamie "China" was born on June 21, 1906. She was followed by Roy Edward on April 26, 1908; & Homer on March 04, 1910.

On May 13, 1910,
Samuel & Lessie Love, ages 24, were renting a home in Wilson, Carter, Co, OK where he farmed. They had been married 4 years & had one child, Mamie, age 4.

Lessie gave birth to her fifth child, Sidney, on December 14, 1912

Services were Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Harvey chapel for Mrs. Lessie Love, 64, who died Dec. 4 in Modesto, Cal. Burial was at Provence. Mrs. Love was born Nov. 1, 1885, in Tennessee. She had lived in Ardmore many years."
