Humphrey, SON OF Elijah Janes. Humphrey Janes was a farmer of good repute in Grand Isle County, South Hero, VT.
He married 23, July, 1790, Miss Thankfull Campbell, of Scotch descent,a family strong, hardy and athletic, They raised a large and respectable family of Sons and daughters, and moved from South Hero to Northern Pennsylvania, Erie county, but eventually moved from there to Johnstown,Rock COUnty, WI, where many of the family now reside, and where Humphrey, the father, died.

I. Hiram, born 21 Jan., 1791; married Hannah Andrews, (2) Sarah Bedient (Mrs. Fletcher).
II. Anna, born 17 March, 1792; married Martin Ruggles.
III. Sally, born 5 Dec. 1793; married David Campbell.
IV. HUMPHREY: born 1 Nov. 1795; married Remembrance Andrews; no issue; died 16 Nov. 1845
V. Seymour, born 14 Aug., 1797; married Polly Eastman.
VI. OLIVER, born 28 March) 1799; married Emily Lee.
VII. ORRIN, born 4 March, 1801; married Clarissa Whitman of Canada.
