R. H. Fonda, SHS Freshman, Dies on Way to Hospital - Robert Hawley Fonda, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Hawley Fonda, Mosherville, and a Freshman in the Saratoga Springs High School, died in an ambulance at 6 p.m. yesterday while on his way to the Amsterdam Hospital. The boy, one of the most popular youngsters in the community where he lived, had been ill about three weeks at the home of his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Shaw, Barkerville. He is said to have been under treatment for an intestinal disorder. His condition having failed to improve, the family physician directed removal to the hospital which was started in company with Mrs. Shaw, his father, and Percy Craig. Young Fonda, whose father is a state highway patrolman, is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at E. Galway. Besides his parents and Mr. and Mrs. Shaw, survivors include his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fonda of Mosherville, several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the E. Galway Methodist Episcopal Church. The Rev. Elmer Benn of Rexford will officiate, assisted by the Rev. George M. Folsom, Rock City Falls. Burial will be in Barkerville. The C. L. Anibal Funeral Home will be open after 7 p.m. tomorrow. The Saratogian, Saratoga Springs NY, Wednesday, December 7, 1938.
