James A. Hull died at the home of his son George Hull, 504 York St. at 4 a.m. Monday from the effects of a stroke of paralysis and the general debilities of old age, aged 83 years, 3 months and 3 days. Deceased was a son of Andrew Hull of Penn Township, and was a shoemaker by trade. He was married to Catherine Crouse of Adams County, over 50 years ago, who died 12 years ago. For the past 12 years Mr. Hull had been making his home with his son, George. He is survived by the son George Hull, 504 York St. and one daughter, Mrs. Amelia Hetrick of New Oxford. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren. Deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and a pensioner. He served as a private in Capt. Lutter?s Company of the 166th Pennsylvania Infantry.
Funeral Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the house, where brief services were held after which the funeral proceeded to Dubs Church, where further services were held and internment made. Rev. J. H. Hartman assisted by Rev. M.J. Roth, conducted the services.
