He was head of a household of nine whites in Prince Edward Country in 1785. His wife was fourteen when they married, and had eleven children resulted from this union.

Samuel Goode III, who married Susanna. In the Charlotte County Orphans Book his children are named Samuel, Gaines, Burrel, John, Henry Jones, Sarah, Nancy, Elizabeth Susannah and Lucy. However, they are in Charlotte County (letter from Richard Bland, 9/18/01).

Samuel Goode No. 76 of Charlotte Co., VA settled first in Mecklenburg Co., afterwards in Prince Edward Co., whence he moved in 1789 or 1790 to Charlotte Co., and settled upon a small stream called Cub Creek, not far from the noted meeting-house called Rough Creek Church. He was a planter, owning a few slaves, and an active man, fond of horses and of field sports, especially fox hunting. His wife was a woman of good intellect, and of a very positive, self-reliant nature. She was probably born at "Porto Bello" or in King and Queen County (Virginia Cousins).
