Rex was born September 30, 1953 in Buncombe County to his late parents, Ralph and Marie Massey Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Rice.
A truck driver his whole life, he worked for Overnight Trucking Company, and then retired from UPS Freight, after they bought the company out. He was a member of Easter Gap Church
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Gosnell Rice; his children: Ashley, Tony, Rex, Jr., Anthony and Samantha; four granddaughters; and siblings: Rufus Rice and his wife, Karen, Bill Rice and his wife, Lisa, and Elizabeth Hensley and her husband, Ray.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverends Paul Norton and Roger Massey officiating.
