Sarah Jane Chambers, 82, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, died Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Mount Pleasant. She was born June 19, 1937 in Lamar county to Cariel and Cora Mae McElyea Pilkington.

She married James Chambers on May 6, 1955 in Paris. He died June 13, 2016. She was retired from the Dallas Independent School District.

Survivors include her three children, Jim Chambers and wife, Judy of Mount Pleasant, Beverly Black and husband, Randall of Sachse, Texas and Mark Chambers of Mount Pleasant, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters and three brothers.

A funeral service is set for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home of Paris, Texas has charge of the arrangements.
