According to the extensive research done by DAR, he had only one son, which was Harman Back Jr.; he never had any sons named John Back, Henry Back, or Joseph Back.
He died sometime before September 15, 1789, and probably before 1782, in the far northern part of Culpeper County, Virginia, in the community of Little Fork. He never migrated to Kentucky.
