Dorothy Jean Erickson

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Dorothy died peacefully with her family by her side on March 2, 2020. Dorothy was born January 30, 1926 to the late Burr and Loretta (Babe) Armon. She married her wonderful husband, the late Russell Erickson on March 24, 1945.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends and attending church at Scandinavia Lutheran, where she joined in many activities including cribbage, bingo, coffee hour, and many Norwegian dinners. She spent many hours with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters cooking, canning, making lefse, shopping and going out to eat.

A longtime passion of hers was camping with her husband where they spent several years as campground host. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. Throughout the years she cared for many animals and had a great love for dogs and cats. Journaling was something she took great pride in as she loved to reflect on things she had done with her family. Sometimes we would spend many hours at the table playing cards and watching Golden Girls, Smothers Brothers, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson while Paul Harvey and the police scanner played in the background.

She leaves behind her three loving children, Lynn Deeg, Appleton, WI. Jim (The late Peg) Erickson, Waupaca, WI.and Dawn (Randy) Birling, Weyauwega, WI. Surviving grandchildren include Curt (Theresa) Cleaves, Joe (Tracy) Cleaves, Dan (Tina) Deeg, Dana Deeg, Revea (Darren) Erickson, Jennifer (Jim) Kirk, Heather (Martin) Dain, Shala Belinke and Shari Doe. She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Special thanks and gratitude goes to the nurses and staff at Park Vista where she resided for several years and made many friends.

Private Memorial Services will be held. Voie Funeral Home of Iola is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Dorothy's name.

Dorothy will be sadly missed and loved forever until we meet again in Heaven.

"Do not let you hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms, if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
