Robert Edward Cleveland was born May 10, 1928 in Niles Oh. He was the 7th of 12 children born to Fred Cleveland Sr. and Alice Jemiscoe Evans. He departed this life Feb. 17, 2020.

Robert, more affectionately known as Bob, was an avid reader and like many of his siblings often finished a book a day. He was also a loyal fan of the Browns, Indians and Cavs. He loved playing scrabble, many card games and of course his dogs. People who knew him may remember him as being quick witted, generous, funny and kind.

Bob left high school to join the Army in 1944. He received his GED while serving. He also received many medals and ribbons and was honorably discharged July 1953 as a sergeant first class. Bob married Dolores Jean Wallace Nov. 26, 1955 and from that union had two children, Robert Bruce and Marcia Lynn.

Bob was member of St. James AME church couples guild Cleveland Oh., baptized at Holy Trinity Baptist church Cleveland Oh. And a member of Calvary Presbyterian church, Cleveland Oh. Bob married Louise Jackson Aug. 9 1986.

He had several jobs after leaving the army. Post office, business owner, J&L steel, Laundryland Systems Inc., and retired from NOAH in 1999. Bob also was a Warrensville Hts. School district crossing guard for several years after retirement.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dolores (Wallace) Cleveland, his brothers William, Paul, Richard, Fred Jr. and James. Sisters Leanna Snead, Ruth Redd and Elizabeth (Libby) Keys.

He is survived by his loving wife Louise Cleveland, children Bruce (Tony) Cleveland, Marcia (Mike) Bagby, Beverly Contee and grandson Michael Victor Bagby. Sisters Shirley Cleveland, Evelyn McCreary, brother Lawrence Cleveland and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A Celebration of his Life will immediately follow in the catered event center at the funeral home.
