Wayne Johnson, 84, of Shamrock died Friday, February 28, 2020 in Shamrock.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 in the Shamrock Church of Christ with Cottie Tarbet, officiating. Burial will follow in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Wayne was born August 21, 1935 in Quail, Texas to Fred and Rosie Peggram Johnson. He married Shirley Marie West on October 6, 1956 in Fort Worth. Wayne was a teacher for 33 years. He had worked at Turkey from 1957-1969 and later Lela from 1969-1990 where he retired as a school administrator. He loved to work, going to the county barn to drink coffee, and was a great carpenter. He was also involved in agriculture and farming in Wheeler and Collingsworth counties for 30 years. Wayne had served as a former president of Region 16 Teachers Association and also Treasurer for the Texas State Teachers Association. He had also served as past chairman of the St. Patrick's Association and was a member of the Shamrock Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Alice Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson of Shamrock; a son, David Johnson and wife Denise of Eustace, Texas; a brother, Clifford Johnson and wife Patricia of Pottsboro; two grandchildren, Colt Johnson and wife Kasey of Weatherford, Texas and Maisie Cross and husband Saige of Oklahoma City; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews,
