Obituary published in the Deseret News on September 23, 1998:

In the early morning hours of September 22, 1998, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, friend, and sweetheart, Wayne D. George, 46, finally found peace and rest in his Heavenly Fathers arms.

Wayne was born on March 12, 1952 in Fillmore, Utah to William Devoe and Yvonne Huff George. Wayne graduated from Cyprus High School in 1970. He married Ruth Ann Liddle in the Salt Lake LDSTemple on April 22, 1977. Through this marriage came the greatest joy of Waynes life. He fathered four beautiful children, Shawn, serving an LDS mission in Italy; Adrienne, attending Dixie College; Allyson and Heidi, both of Salt Lake City. Wayne and Ruth Ann were later divorced.

Wayne enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad and brother. He was a firm believer of hard work and was a dedicated employee of Patrick Dry Goods Co. from 1970 until his illness forced him to retire in 1991. After his confinement to a wheelchair, Wayne became a resident of Olympus Care Center where he met his companion and sweetheart, Danatte Oretel. He found joy in going on Friday night dates with Danatte to dinner, and spending Saturday afternoons with Danatte and his children at the mall.

Despite his own physical problems and limitations, Wayne was always genuinely concerned how everyone else was.

Wayne is survived by his parents of Magna; his children; a sister, Madelyn (Leland) Ward; a brother, Terry (Elaine) George, both of Magna; his sweetheart and companion, Danatte; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him very much. Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents; a nephew, Kelly Ward; and his ex-wife, Ruth Ann.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Magna Stake Center, 3100 South 8400 West, Magna. Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 24, 1998 from 6-8 p.m., at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and the day of the service from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Valley View Memorial Park.

May God Bless and Keep You
