Early Life: Brenda was born Sept. 26, 1957, in Bakersfield, California, to Alfred "Jack" and Doris May Wetzsteon Lewis. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1975.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: That same year, she met the love of her life, David Fisher; they were married May 1, 1976. Their first son, Bryan Scott Fisher, was born in 1979. A few years later, they moved to Darby, Montana. In 1982, their son, Jeffery Allen Fisher, was born. After 17 years of marriage, Brenda and David divorced but always remained close family friends with each other. They still always attended family functions together.
❦ For over 30 years, Brenda was part of the Ravalli Head Start program. Fred Rogers said, "Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero to me". Brenda served as a hero to Head Start children, co-workers and parents alike. She was a knowledge-filled mentor, cherished companion, and trusted leader in her community. She was especially admired for her calmness, humor and flexibility. Her extraordinary work will continue to benefit future generations. During her years of service at Ravalli Head Start, she went to college at the same time and earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development from University of Montana - Western out of Dillon, Montana, in May of 2012.
❦ In 2007, her first beloved grandson, Aden, was born. Her nickname quickly became "G-Mama" when Aden began to talk. Her next grandchild, Teron, was born in 2010, and third grandchild, Sage, arrived in 2013. Brenda will always be remembered for her kindness to all ages, her love of anything outside in nature, her love of being with friends, playing cribbage, camping adventures, flowers, and never missing someone's birthday. She enjoyed being one of the first people to meet a new baby in the family.
❦ Brenda was a registered organ and tissue donor and is saving the life of others and benefiting many more. Brenda May "Lewis" Fisher passed away suddenly due to a brain aneurysm Wednesday, February 19, 2020. She was 62.
Family Message: "The family suggests memorials to be made to Ravalli Head Start and talk to your loved ones about organ donation."
Survived By: Her two sons; three grandsons; her brothers: Bob, Carroll and George; 61 nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents, grandparents, her sister, Janet Lewis; her brother, Ron Lewis; her nephew, Austin Wilson; and many close friends recently.
