Son of Richard Walter Smith and Charlotte Almira L'Hommedieu, husband of Emma May Beecher-Sheppey, the daughter of Abraham Beecher and May A. Draper, whom he married on June 7, 1894 in New York. Stepfather of Charlotte May Sheppey (married Robert Morris Treadwell).

Marriage - An interesting wedding of Thursday next week will be that of Mrs. Emma May Beecher-Sheppey, of Philadelphia, and Mr. Clarence Wilbur Smith. The ceremony will be performed in the Memorial Presbyterian Church on Seventh Avenue at 8 o'clock, and will be followed by a reception at the residence of the bride's cousin, Mrs. Carl Frank, 648 Tenth Street.

Also - "On the evening of the same day the wedding of Mrs. Emma May Beecher-Sheppey, of Philadelphia, and Lieutenant Clarence Wilbur Smith, of Company B. Thirteenth Regiment, drew a large number of people to the Memorial Methodist Church on Prospect Heights. The bride is related to the Beechers of this city, her grandfather having been a brother of the late Henry Ward Beecher."

In 1910, Clarence W. Smith, aged 42, was living on West 96th Street, Manhattan, NY, with his wife, Emma M. Smith, aged 47, and widowed father, Richard W. Smith, aged 69. He was shown to be an accountant for a department store.

In 1915, Clarence W. Smith, aged 48, born May 1867 in New York, was living on Dartmouth Road, Parsippany, Hanover Township, Morris Co., New Jersey, with his wife, Emma May Smith, aged 51, born August 1863 in Pennsylvania, and servant, S. Terashita, aged 30. He was shown to be a manager.

In 1920, Clarence W. Smith, aged 52, was living on 100th Street, Manhattan, NY, with his wife, Emma M. Smith, aged 56. He was shown to be a physician with a private practice.

On July 12, 1920, Clarence W. Smith, 1st Lieut. Company S., 22nd New York Infantry, filed for invalid benefits in New York.

On July 31, 1932, Clarence Wilbur Smith stated that he; was a Colonel, residing at 358 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brookline, Massachusetts, and that he was a Superintendent with Gilchrest Co., Boston, Massachusetts, when he filed an "Annual Report of Reserve Retired Officers".

Obituary - Clarence W. Smith, a former resident of Lake Ronkonkoma, died Wednesday in Cohasset, Mass. For the past several years he had made his home in Brookline. He was 65 years old. The body arrived here this morning and the funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lake Grove Methodist Church, the Rev. Walter B. Foley, officiating, and the interment will be made in the Lake Grove Cemetery.

Also - Clarence W. Smith, 51, of 358 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brookline, died yesterday at the Cohasset Hospital, where he had been critically sick for the past week as the result of a shock with which he was stricken while motoring through town.

On April 20, 1933, his widow, Emma M. Smith, filed for widow's benefits in New York.
