Evelyn Taylor Pitts of Hominy, Oklahoma
October 10, 1929 - January 13, 2020

Evelyn Taylor Pitts was born on October 10, 1929 to parents Jackson and Della Mae (Buck) Taylor in Collinsville, Oklahoma. She entered into rest on January 13, 2020 surrounded by family.

She was half Cherokee and in her younger days was fluent in the Cherokee language. She was a resident of Hominy or the Hominy area for over 70 years. She was a member of the Mound Valley Homemakers Club for over 50 years, the Hominy Garden Club for many years, worked at the Red Cross Blood mobile for over 25 years, she was also a caregiver to the elderly in Hominy and she helped cook at The Wild Onion dinners for many years at the Friends Indian Church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hominy and also attended as many of the grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. One highlight in her life was when her great, great grandson Jaxon was adopted.

Evelyn is survived by: children, Dedra Whitcomb of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Della Carter and husband Johnie of Wynona, Oklahoma; son, Robert of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Cheri Towell and Nick Carter both of Wynona, Oklahoma; Heather and husband Kenny of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brandy Whitcomb of Claremore, Oklahoma; Debbie Bash and husband James of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Tony Pitts and wife Becky of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Kevin Miller and Daniel Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Tosha Stroud and husband Timmy of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Dawna Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jennifer Finn and husband Zak of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Nickalus Carter and Ryan Carter of Wynona, Oklahoma; Dylan Bright of Broken Arrow, Hailey Towell of Pawhuska; Brittany Bright; Harley Towell of Wynona; Alexis Woodruff of Tulsa; Garrett McCafferty of Broken Arrow; Josephine, Annabelle, Katherine, Sharlotte, Della and Deadra Whitcomb of Claremore; great great grandchildren, Kylie Smith and Easton Miller of Tulsa; Jaxon Finn of Pawhuska; Wyatt Bright of Broken Arrow.

Evelyn was preceded in death by: parents, Jackson and Della Mae; husband, Leonard Pitts; brothers, Eugene and Ira Lou (Buck); beloved friend, Kenny Robertson; son-in-law, Charles Whitcomb.

Visitation for Evelyn will be 2:00pm-7:00pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Hominy, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will be at 11:00am, Thursday, January 16, 2020 with David Nagle officiating at the Pitts’ Pavilion in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be: grandsons and great grandsons; Nick Carter, Tony Pitts, Ryan Carter, Kevin Miller, Daniel Miller, Dylan Bright. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kenny Woodruff, Zak Finn, Timmy Stroud, Bran Whitcomb and Kenny Robertson.
