He was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Keezletown and was the son of the late Wade H. and Cora Kisling Sites.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Francis Asbury Sunday School Class.
Mr. Sites served in the U.S. Army 94th Division, 376th Infantry in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany.
He was a life member of the Rion Bowman VFW Post No. 632, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 24, American Ex-Prisoners of War, Bob Frakes Shenandoah Valley Chapter, National Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War and a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War Department of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Harrisonburg Moose Lodge No. 1686.
Mr. Sites organized and managed the American Legion Baseball Team in Harrisonburg from 1976 until 1988, and was the last surviving member of the 1941 Championship Keezletown Baseball Team of the Rockingham County Baseball League, which he played in and managed for several years.
He was employed at Rockingham Motor Company for 20 years and retired from Shenandoah's Pride Dairy after 20 years.
On July 14, 1949, he married Bernice Shull. Also surviving are one son, Steven L. Sites of Fredericksburg; one daughter, Pattye L. Sites of Harrisonburg; one sister, Carrie S. Billhimer of Harrisonburg; and three grandchildren.
The Revs. L. Douglas Hill, Mary Beth Sams and Laura B. Douglass will conduct the funeral service 3 p.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial with rites by the VFW will be in Keezletown Cemetery .
