Mary Dell Pitch, 91 of Independence, Grafton Rd. community, passed peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2020 in Kingwood at the Pine Ridge Nursing Home. She was born December 12, 1928 in Independence on the family farm, one of 14 children, of Charles and Etta Costello Austin.

She worked in the dietary department of Vincent Pallotti Hospital. She was Methodist by faith and attended the South Point Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her two sisters, Fern Austin of Kingwood and Deloris Howell and husband Moser of Morgantown and sister-in-law Doris Austin, of Morgantown. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Guy Pitch, sisters and their husbands, Frances (Virgil) Grimm, Virginia (Earl) Strang, Dortha Mae Austin, Geneva (George) McCrobie, Betty (Denzel) Turner and Barbara (David) Sanders; brothers, Charles H. ‘Pete’ Austin, Ralph Austin, Claude Lee Austin, James ‘Boots’ Austin and Kenneth E. Austin.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home is honored to assist the Pitch family with cremation arrangements.
