Christopher was born in Edgartown, Mass. on Martha's Vineyard Island, the son of Nathan Pease and Sarah Vincent. His great-great-grandfather, John Pease had settled on Martha's Vineyard in 1644.
He was baptized Jan 20, 1723.
In 1746 he moved to Lebanon, New London Co, CT where he met and married Hannah Hill(s). They lived in Lebanon for 15 years and all 4 of their children were born there:

Theodora Hazen, 1760
About 1763 they moved to Hartford, VT (near the NH border), being one of the first families settling there. The 1760's saw many families moving to this area, including Ethan Allen, also from CT.
In 1768, Christopher was selected as a 'selectman at the first town meeting of Hartford.'
In 1777 the settlers adopted a constitution, the first in the New World prohibiting slavery.
Christopher is listed in the DAR Patriot book a Minuteman in the Revolutionary War. (Since he would have been 60, and since his 25-yr-old son, Christopher, was not listed, maybe they have the two mixed up.)
In 1790 he was still in Windsor Co, VT
He died in 1794 (age 71) in Quechee, VT.
Hannah died April 1818 (age 96). Hannah was buried at the Christian Street Cemetery. Both he and Hannah were on an 1889 list of Christian Street Cemetery, but with no date for him. Though it seems logical that he would be buried beside his wife, there is also a grave marker for him at Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee (where his sons, Christopher II and Samuel are buried), but he is not on the 1889 Hilltop Cemetery list.
