Gravesite lost. Miles CURTIS was born in the Fish Neck area of York County on February 9, 1791. He served twice during the War of 1812. He signed on March 14, 1813 and served as a Private in Capt. Wynne's Company, Virginia Militia, and served through April 3. He served as a Private again from June 27, 1813 to August 15, 1813, this time in Capt. Cooper's Company.

He was married on December 25, 1816, to Sarah Katherine HARWOOD (11/29/1800-08/15/1886), of Warwick County, VA, and the family settled there. Together they had thirteen children:

Miles CURTIS' estate was located near the site of the present reservoir at Lee's Mills, in Newport News, VA. (NOTE: Warwick County was absorbed into Newport News, VA, in 1958.)
