THOMAS CURTIS, FATHER OF THIRTY-TWO CHILDREN.
Was a Respected Citizen of Warwick who died Friday-Twelve of His Offspring Survive.
YORKTOWN, VA., July 12 - (Special) - The funeral of Mr. Thomas Curtis, who died at his home in James City, seven died at his home, in James City, 7 miles from Williamsburg on Friday, took place at Lebanon Christian Church, today at noon.
The services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Powell, of Newport News, and the remains were interred at Grafton churchyard, bu the side of his first wife. He was only sick a few days.
Mr. Curtis was twice married, had 22 children by his first wife, six pair of twins being in the number, and ten children by the second wife. Thirty-two children is the record of this good man twelve of whom still survive him.
His oldest is Mrs. William Geddy, of James City county, 46 years of age, and his youngest child is now 8 years of age, and popularly called "Thirty-Two.'
He was born and reared in Warwick county was a boats-man in early life, and in late years a farmer.
His father before him came of prolific parents, being one of ten children. His first wife was Miss Fannie Randall, and the second one Miss Sallie Moss, both of Warwick.
He sleeps the sleep of the just, bu the side of his first wife, and twenty children. He was much beloved and respected and leaves many friends to mourn his loss.
Misses Indiana and Lizzie M. Bryan, daughters of Commissioner of Revenue. Rev. George E. Bryan, are attending the School of Methods, at University of Virginia; fitting themselves for better serve in the schools of the schools of the county where ice vice in the schools of the county where they have taught some time.
