Ira Halsey, 70, died at 8:20 Monday morning, May 7, 1928, at his home two and one-half miles east of this village. Mr. Halsey had been ill with pneumonia for about one week.
He was the son of Elias Halsey and Anna Murphy Halsey and was born in the same house in which his passing occurred. His entire life was spent on this one farm, and he was classed as one of the best farmers in Oswego county. Mr. Halsey was widely known and leaves a host of friends. He will be greatly missed from this community.
Surviving are two sons, Wales and Glen, who reside at the homestead; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Roach of Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Fred L. Spicer of Fernwood, N. Y., also several grandchildren.
Owing to illness in the family private funeral services were held from his late home on Wednesday afternoon, May 9, at two o'clock,. Rev. Floyd Fennen of the Fernwood Baptist church conducted the services. Internment was in Primitive cemetery
