Laverna E. Reimers, 99 of Grand Island died Monday, February 11, 2019 at Tiffany Square with family by her side.

Laverna was born on May 25th, 1919, in Platte County, Nebraska to Henry and Sena (Michaelson) Schmidt.

She grew up in the towns of Grand Island, Wood River and Shelton, Nebraska.

Laverna was united in marriage to Dale Donnelly in 1940, Robert Peterson in 1948 and then Jack Reimers on March 15, 1957 in Columbus, Nebraska.

Laverna began working at West Bell right out of school. She then opened her own monogram business before working at Jack and Jill for 26 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a past member of the Eagle’s.

Her hobbies included bowling and sewing.

Laverna was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Earl Schmidt; infant brother; sister, Delores Steele; son, Ronn Peterson; son in-law, Leroy ‘Pete’ Smith and her husbands.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Smith and Sharon Peterson; grandchildren, Stacey (Mike) Bailey and Steven (Alissa) Smith; great grandchildren Tyler Smith, Jacob Smith, Cody Smith, Nicole Bailey, Jeremy Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Allan Bailey and Danialle Mcgee; five great great grandchildren; sister in-law, Jo Dietrich; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

There will be a private family graveside at a later date.
