Source: Newspaper clipping: "Mrs. Hiram Koon, Crooksville, Dies" February 1936 Survived by Two Sons in This City Mrs. Sarah Koon, 81 years old, widow of Hiram Koon and mother of Vesta and Frank Koon of this city, died at 5 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Watts, Main Street, Crooksville, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Koon was well known in this city, where she was a frequent visitor. She was a member of the Crooksville M.E. Church. Surviving are three sons, Frank and Vesta Koon of this city and William at Michigan; three daughters: Mrs. Charles Bateson, South Crooksville; Mrs. Walter Gatewood of Norval Park and Mrs. Watts, at whose house she died; a brother, William Hambleton of Springfield; three sisters: Mrs. Joe Urban of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. J.R. Hambleton of Cincinnati, Oh and Mrs. Charles Bain of Zanesville; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-children.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Watts home at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, with Rev L.E. Butler officiating. Burial will be made in Crooksville cemetery.
The body was returned Thursday evening to the residence from the Cannon & Cannon funeral home.
